The Past

At the start of 2000, before the employment crash of the past four years, Mike had very few prospects for the future, and things looked very bleak. At age 33, Mike closed a hugely successful construction company. He lost everything, and his life spun out of control. “Back then I had mentors who were trying to help me, but I was stubborn, full of pride and refused to listen”

Literally, with nowhere to turn except a cot in the backroom of a friend’s house his mindset headed deep into ”stinkin’ thinkin ” (Zig ZIglar). When reality hit him squarely in his wallet and personal life, Mike realized that thinking, which had taken him to the top of the mountain, had now deposited him on a friend’s couch. He then realized that his thinking would be the one thing that would get him out of his circumstances. “Once I realized that I had to change my thinking, I bought every book I could find and studied how people change their circumstances. There is definitely a proven process, I have used it myself.”

Giving Back

Drawing on his entrepreneurial spirit and driven by a can-do attitude, the former Marine, began a personal transformation which gradually led him to his current career path – change coach, speaker, visionary and entrepreneur Mike Benton Enterprises, LLC©. A man on a mission to succeed, Mike has the single-mindedness to do the same for others. “

Currently, Mike coaches recently unemployed professionals through a community outreach program in Southern Maryland. The Job Match Re-Employment Program is a support group and networking hub for mid-career, college-educated individuals who were often highly successfulin their given fields. “These individuals never saw it coming:, with all their training, degrees and experience,they never imagined they would wind up unemployed at this stage of their life. Its devastating and its my job to help them realize we are not in Kansas anymore.”
